This deluxe version of our popular 8″ Dobsonian reflector telescope is loaded with top-notch feature enhancements and upgraded accessories to make every night under the stars a special experience. The Orion SkyQuest XT8 PLUS Dobsonian telescope boasts a redesigned base with weight-reducing cutouts and highly visible white trim on the baseboard. Adjustable tension knobs on the altitude axis allow you to use heavy accessories with the XT8 PLUS without the telescope drifting downwards. A big, 2″ dual-speed Crayford focuser with a fine-focus ratio of 11:1 lets you dial in sharp details of celestial targets. Like all reflector telescopes, the XT8 PLUS may occasionally require minor collimation adjustments for peak performance, and we’ve made it easy for you by equipping the secondary and primary mirror with thumbscrew adjustments so you can adjust alignment without using tools. We’ve outfitted the XT8 PLUS with bevy of great accessories including a 2″ 28mm DeepView eyepiece, 1.25″ 10mm Sirius Plossl eyepiece, EZ Finder II reflex sight, eyepiece rack and collimation cap. We also include an 8″ Safety Film Solar Filter for safe daytime viewing of sunspots on our nearest star and a Shorty 2x Barlow which doubles the magnifying power of any 1.25″ eyepiece.
